It's actually helped me get into their old stuff...but I still like the new stuff better.

oh sure, that's understandable. but the guitar sound and the layering is similar to the smiths (especially in "phantom limb"). and the beach boys. and kind of new order too, i think. all in good ways. basically, i'm glad you like them now. are you going to try to get into their older stuff?

I haven't heard that.

Though, to me, I CANNOT hear the Smiths without Morrisey...and boy do I not like his voice.

So I guess you don't want me to reiterate (since I'm sure you've heard it elsewhere) that this Shins album is extremely Smiths-esque? Extremely?

Tim, I often (OFTEN) don't know the stuff that you listen to, either. When I start posting about Albums From the Past, you'll probably know more of it.

Perhaps when I get to the point where I am asking for guest posts, you can be one of the writers!

Also, I White Savage totally wins the "damaged my hearing" poll for 2007.

wow. I think outside of wilco, I've heard of maybe 3 of those people and I haven't heard a single thing on that list. I'm so unhip. But whatever, I'm rocking out to husker du right now, and I finally have a record player again (so I can listen to the best thing that didn't make your list: the White Savage-Destroy your style 7").
